Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very hand device This particular model replaces a similar FoodSaver vacuum sealer that I had for probably 20 years. I'm pleased that I could still find a simple-to-use unit...with a distinct improvement, the way there is a latch that you use for storage. My old one needed the lid's lever to be left open for storage to protect the vacuum seals, which was awkward. This unit has 3 positions to either fully open, fully close or "store" the lid. An appreciated improvement. I have used this new model so much already, and it's very quick and simple to use. It's also very easy to make your own bags, in whatever sizes you need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple is Best I have owned many FoodSaver sealers over the years, and this is my latest one. If you are going to buy a FoodSaver, I suggest you keep it as simple as possible, like this unit. I use mine almost everyday, and, sadly, durability is not their strong suit. Don't expect more than a year or two of use. The gaskets fail, although these can be replaced. If the black tape covering the heat sealing element is damaged (usually by liquid) it can't be replaced and the bare wire will overheat the plastic bags. This unit comes with a detachable hand sealer which is the only way to go in my opinion. The nipple on the end of any FoodSaver hand sealer will eventually break off, and if the sealer is built in to the machine it will be rendered useless. (This is why I have had to replace most of my prior units.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Our second FoodSaver Had a FoodSaver for 40 years, more or less and it was finally starting to show its age. Replaced it with the FM2435 model. Efficient and easy to use. Since there are only two of us it's used mainly to pack up dinner-size meats and seasonal veggies. Love it, loved the old one too that's why we got another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Foodsaver FM2435 This new Foodsaver FM2435 replaced our old one. It has the same great features plus having the Handheld Sealer and we expect it to last as long if not longer than our old one that has made over 30 years…it still works but it’s but it’s so heavy. This new one is a lot lighter in weight and takes up less room. You can’t go wrong with Foodsavers.
